Zubereitung

  1. Für den Teig die weiche Butter in eine Schüssel geben und mit dem elektrischen Handrührgerät gut verrühren. Den Zucker und den Vanillezucker nach und nach zugeben und unterrühren. Das Waffeleisen auf höchster Stufe vorheizen.
  2. Jedes Ei nach und nach unterrühren. Mehl und Backpulver miteinander vermischen, ebenfalls unterrühren und anschließend das Mineralwasser, eine Prise Salz und den Honig unterrühren.
  3. Die Temperatur des Waffeleisens auf die mittlere Stufe stellen, das Eisen gegebenfalls etwas einölen und den Teig mit einem Schöpflöffel hineingeben. Nach und nach die Waffeln goldbraun ausbacken und auf einen Gitterrost legen.
  4. Inzwischen die Sauerkirschen zubereiten, dazu vom Saft ca. 100 ml in eine kleine Schüssel gießen. Die Sauerkirschen mit dem restlichen Saft in einen Topf geben und erhitzen. Die Speisestärke mit dem Saft in der Schüssel verrühren und zu den Sauerkirschen geben. Gut verrühren, kurz aufkochen lassen und vom Herd nehmen.

Tipp: Die Bergischen Waffeln werden traditionell mit Sauerkirschen, Milchreis und Sahne serviert.
